DAVID PEEL
After completing a pilot TV show That Band where David played the chauffeur
‘Dennis LaMonte,’ there was a hope the pilot would be commissioned for a series
run. This did not transpire as expected; the great news however is the pilot has
been financially funded recently and will be made into a feature film!
David Peel has just finished a very successful run of 2020 Vision at the Edinburgh
Fringe and then various shows in Yorkshire. Once completed David went straight
into rehearsals for The Interview, The story of the Holocaust; a play by Hexis
Productions penned by the very talented Jayson Bartlett.
There will be 3 shows in November at the Bradford Playhouse then David will tour
nationally with the Company throughout April, May and June, 2011. In the meantime,
and much closer to home, David will play the character and narrating part of ‘Mr
Perks’ in the 40th anniversary production of The Railway Children to be staged at
the Keighley Playhouse from 6th - 11th December 2010.
Along with Paper Zoo’s future productions (to be announced) it promises to be an
extremely busy year for David.
David is an original co-founder of Paper Zoo Theatre Company and is extremely proud of
that fact!
He has an extensive, and growing, background working in television and film; this includes
short films as well as main stream TV and feature films. Most notably The 11th Hour with
Patrick Stewart, the bus conductor on the movie Wild Child directed by Nick Moore. And of
course Dennis LaMonte in That Band with Bruce Jones and Lee Otway
When David isn't treading-the-boards and singing with the Zoo, he can be found working in
other areas of theatre.
He's been involved in 2 pantomimes so far (including playing Dame Dora) with Showstoppers
Productions, as well as working in theatres in Yeadon (Leeds) and Keighley. He recently
played 'Whit' in a run of ‘Of Mice and Men’ at the Keighley Playhouse and enjoyed his time
with them.
One of David’s most challenging roles, from an emotional point of view, was the 'Crucified
Christ' in the Bradford Hope’s production of The Passion Play performed in Bradford's
Centenary Square. Dave says.”They were amongst some of the most moving and emotional
scenes I've ever performed....a truly humbling experience".
Off stage and camera, David likes to relax by running and walking and has so far completed
five Great North Runs for charity.
He currently has a growing interest in photography but purely as a hobby...for now! Failing
that, he’s sat with his son, Adam, at Elland Road, for his sins he hastens to add!
Any remaining minutes he has left are spent in the gym, walking and running and of course
the pub.
David’s inspirations are kindness, positivity and honest people who believe in themselves.
